How to Handle Anger in a Positive Way

Anger is a real emotion and can cause us to make choices we might not ordinarily make. In our Monday Morning Meetings we have been learning about what to do instead of hurting someone back when we are angry.  Below are some ways to handle anger positively:

  • Stop and Think!
  • Know that what you do is up to you.
  • Tell yourself, “It’s okay to feel angry. It’s not okay to hurt someone else.”
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  • Walk away
  • Take a deep breath, then blow it out.
  • Find an adult.
  • Count slowly from 1 to 10 or 10 to 1
  • Treat the other person with kindness and respect.
